Lady GaGa - LoveGame remixes

We got a couple of great remixes from two regular Dancefloor Mayhem contributors - the duo of DJ Red & Josh Dupont gave us a big club remix, and Ranny takes on the tune and gives it his signature tribal sound. Both are excellent, both are 320kbps so I want my DJs playing these in the clubs!

They Call It Acid!

They Call It Acid is the true story of Acid House culture aka Rave culture. What began as a small dance event in England in the late 1980s quickly blossomed into a global youth phenomena that is present today in almost every country around the globe.

From the film synopsis::

THEY CALL IT ACID is a feature length documentary which plots the emergence of this culture from its musical roots in Chicago and Detroit, to the melting pots of Ibiza, London and North England where these elements were brought together by a small number of DJs, musicians and promoters. Fed up with the 80s society that they were living in, they created the illegal Acid House party scene. Far from being just a culture of music, fashion and drugs, Acid House broke down long-lasting barriers in the UK, bringing together black and white, rich and poor and groups of previously opposing football hooligans. 12 months from its conception it was to bring on board millions of people and through the 90s spread worldwide, with the birth of the super club, massive licensed outdoor Raves, Dance Music festivals and the rise of the super star DJ, many of whom are now world famous.

Narrated by Robert Owens, one of the most distinctive voices of House Music, with a seminal soundtrack compiled by DJ ‘Evil’ Eddie Richards, one of the UK’s foremost House pioneers, THEY CALL IT ACID features over 60 interviews with both the originators and followers of the Acid House scene and the Police and Politicians who opposed it. Featuring unique film from many of the first illegal clubs and parties as well as never-before-seen footage of Police raids as they clamped down on the scene.

Rare Elements: Omar Faruk Tekbilek now available!

The second installment in the Rare Elements series, this album pairs Turkish multi-instrumentalist virtuoso Omar Faruk Tekbilek with the world's hottest remixers, including Amon Tobin, Flosstradamus, Junior Sanchez, Tommie Sunshine and many more.

CLICK HERE to stream the entire album thanks to 5 Points Records

The remix artists took the traditional Turkish instruments and melodies Omar Faruk recorded for this album and transformed them using sensibilities grounded in electronic and dance music. Omar Faruk has a long-standing interest in meshing musical cultures, and he took pains to preserve the musical integrity of the original tracks while still leaving the remixers free to creatively reinterpret and reshape them into new, high-energy forms.

On this album, Omar Faruk plays twelve traditional Turkish instruments: ney, kaval, kavala, zurna, oud, baglama, jura, darbuke, def, bendir, davul and finger cymbals. He modestly only considers himself a virtuoso on the ney, (bamboo flute), the zurna (double-reed oboe-like instrument), the baglama (long-necked lute) and percussion, but the tracks speak for themselves. He is a masterful performer whose first-rate musicianship provides a cohesive thread throughout the album, while the remixers’ individual perspectives lend a variety that makes the album an exhilarating and exotic adventure.

CLICK HERE to check out the first installment in the Rare Elements series featuring music from Ustad Sultan Khan remixed by artists including Joe Claussell, Thievery Corporation, Nickodemus, Radar One and Ralphi Rosario.

KM5 Ibiza resort presents their 9th volume of music in a 2-Disc set

KM5 is a beautiful Bedouin style oasis nestled in the hills about 5 kilometers outside of Ibiza on the road to San José.

KM5 is an enchanting garden and a total Balearic experience with Arabic-style tapestry tents, sofas, candles and colorful pillows sprawled about for the lounging pleasure of their guests. KM5 presents the perfect escape from the craziness of Ibiza’s pounding club culture.

A taste of a night out at KM5, can be found on this new 2-disc collection of music.

Click here to preview the entire 2 disc compilation

I actually recommend listening to Disc 2 first, as it is a good starting point, but can also be used as the after-party / come-down listening adventure. The second disc is a fun collection of r&b, soul, disco and downtempo sounds.

Standout songs of disc 2 include 'Rendezvous' by Jazzanova feat. Capitol A, 'Fantasy' by Atjazz feat. Sarah Jane Morris and 'Holdin' On' by Physics feat. Daisy.

The first disc is a mix of deep techy house sounds, including production and remix work from Agoria, Joey Negro, Audio Soul Project, Catz N Dogz and Henrik Schwarz.

This collection represents KM5 as a sultry, sexy, groovin' experience that I would love to take part in.

Paul White releases new album of sampledelic hip-hop - The Strange Dreams of Paul White

I was just introduced to Paul White and I love his beats. He has a new album out of all original sampledelic hip-hop beats - in the same vein as DJ Shadow minus the drum-n-bass influence. The album is called The Strange Dreams of Paul White, released on One-Handed Music. You can listen to and purchase each track from the album by visiting Paul's site:: http://www.paulwhitemusic.co.uk/

What people are saying about producer Paul White:

"The Strange Dreams Of Paul White conjures a hallucinatory world which owes as much to guitarists dressed as wizards and epic songs about Stonehenge as it does to turntables and microphones." Fader Magazine

"It’s an apt title: the record is a narcoleptic dose of dense, psychedelic, instrumental hip-hop that lurches pleasingly from one snatched beat to the next." Bodytonic

[review] The Crystal Method live in Portland, OR

The Crystal Method played a live show at the Roseland on Friday, May 29th. IT WAS AMAZING! Everything I had hoped it would be and more. The sound was very loud but also clear. The lighting and visuals were mind blowing. And the music itself was amazing.

The duo had lots of energy up on stage and shared that with the crowd. Everyone was dancing, shouting and pumping their hands in the air.

The set started off with some of the key tracks from the new album including 'Divided By Night' and 'Drown in the Now', and ended with some great versions of some of their classic hits such as 'Get Busy Child' and 'Why Can't You Trip Like I Do'.

Check out a few pics and videos:
