Re-discovering Nerve Recordings

Nerve Recordings was a drum-n-bass and breakbeat label run by Paul Reset - a producer and DJ from Glasgow. Paul's current project is PhutureLabs - a Glasgow based collective that runs a website, a label and a monthly radio show.

Nerve Recordings is now done releasing, according to their site Paul posted a goodbye post on June 16, 2010, but thankfully their site is still up and going. What is great about that - is their catalog of releases is available from the site and offered as free downloads. That's right, you can download the entire Nerve Recordings catalog in 320mp3 format for free!

Over the course of the next few weeks or so, I want to share with you some of the tracks that I really like and pass those on to you in the hopes of turning you onto to some new artists.

The first track that really caught my attention was "Quarantine" by Ronin. What I loved about it is the use of music from the 28 Days Later soundtrack. The Ronin track was built around a song from the movie called "In The House - In A Heartbeat". If you love the movie as much as I do, you will recognize it as soon as it comes in. The track was part of a 5-track EP called The Battle Drums which was originally released on Nerve Recordings on January 27, 2010, so I thought this would be a cool way to celebrate it's anniversary by putting it back into the internet consciousness.

Click Here to go to the full release page for the EP on the Nerve Recordings website. There you can read more about Ronin's thoughts on the EP as well as download the other songs from the EP for free.
