Fresh new 2 Hour DJ Mix of House Music!

Tronic's thoughts on the new mix:

"I was really happy with this mix. This is for the groovers. This is for the old school house heads that still like to get down on the dancefloor. It is a modern sound of House with elements of house music past, present and future. This will make your booty shake.

I've been DJ-ing since 1994 and I feel this mix really captured an essence of some of my influences such as Danny Tenaglia, Scott Henry, Steve Loria, DJ Pierre, Sasha & Digweed, Cajmere / Green Velvet, Nick Warren, Satoshi Tomiie, Deep Dish, Chus & Ceballos and Agoria."

Introducing DJ FM

Though his fascination with music has been lifelong, Jon Gerler's musical existence as DJ FM is a journey that began over a decade ago.

Following the dissolution of his band S.G.O. in 1997, Gerler and producer Tom Mohbat began work on DJ FM's debut EP 'Breakup'. The album introduced FM's signature blend of danceable beats, world percussion, live instrumentation and the haunting vocals of singer/actress Elizabeth Fountain. Tracks from the album were featured on MTV's "Real World," "Road Rules," and the Abercrombie & Fitch website. The song "Baranquilla" appeared on the Record Exchange's 1999 "Notes from Home" compilation CD which led to significant regional airplay on college radio, as well as a mention in CMJ.

FM then began his most ambitious plan to date: moving his music out of the clubs and assembling a group of musicians to help him perform in a live setting - The FM Initiative. Enlisting the aid of S.G.O.'s drummer Jason Clevenger and Mohbat's alter-ego Ravi on percussion, FM played a series of local live dates, including a benefit performance at Club Metro in Asheville and the Freakadelic Records Freak-for-All in 2000 at Local 506, Chapel Hill.

The group took a hiatus following FM's move to Baltimore, Maryland, where he began focusing on honing his DJ-ing skills, as well as the completion of his second EP, 'Conversion.Factor'. He DJ-ed at small clubs in and around Washington D.C., including the Galaxy Hut and Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington, VA. 'Conversion.Factor' was released online in early 2001 through a fledgling website called, and 2AM Artist Management's Keith Haas invited FM's live group to perform at 2AM's Artist Showcase in Springfield, MA before an audience of over 2,000.

Back in North Carolina, FM began work on his 3rd release, the 'Land on your Feet' EP. Tracks from all three of his releases continued to be used by MTV as well as various PBS programs including "In The Mix," and online indie retailer The Orchard helped the 'Breakup' EP see distribution through Apple's hugely successful iTunes Music Store. Along with former Resonance Project DJ Tom Foolery, HiJinx Records was founded and FM began a year-long Friday night residency at Rush Lounge, formerly the center of Raleigh's up-and-coming South Glenwood district beginning in 2004 (now the Pourch and The Bassment).

After concluding his residency at Rush in early 2005, guest appearances at Aries Lounge, Oliver Twist, Talulla's, and a high-profile gig opening for the Backstreet Boys at the Progress Energy Center followed. For this he was voted as Best DJ in the Triangle for 2006 by the Independent Weekly. From 2006-2007 he then played bass/keys for local Raleigh rock heroes Left Outlet, whom Grammy-nominated producer John Custer (DAG, Corrosion of Conformity) called "the best band to come around in a long time...great vocals...great song writing."

FM then returned to DJ-ing in 2007, where he held down a summer-long residency at Glenwood South wine bar April & George and a 2-month residency at Chapel Hill's Mansion 462. Countless guest appearances at Chapel Hill's Vespa, Raleigh's Mosquito and Ess Lounge (as opening act for Fools Gold Record's Treausre Fingers), GruvGlu's EmergeNC 2008, Transformus 2009 and even a gig at AutoSub at Burning Man in 2009 followed. In 2010 FM began his residency for Lincoln Theatre's REVOLUTION Raleigh dance party, averaging 400+ attendees in a notoriously difficult maket for electronic dance music.

Yet for all the publicity, DJ FM's first priority is the release of his FIRST foray into drum & bass and hip-hop, Big Hop + DJ FM's "Influenced" (now on: iTunes and:, as well completion of his anticipated solo release, Last Man Standing. Featuring a varied line-up of vocalists (including Cynthia Holliday and Alicyn Packard) and MCs, Last Man Standing is shaping up to be a genre-bending tour-de-force of electronic mayhem.

Sure to be his most personal and in-your-face work to date, Last Man Standing is about courage in the face of turmoil, hidden love, keeping secrets, and longing. "It's about wanting something out of reach," says FM, "and coming to terms with the internal conflict that results."

DJ FM's recent release is the Premonition EP. It includes two original tracks, "Premonition" - a great vocal deep house track, and "Memory" - a house / electro house track. Also included on the EP are 4 remixes of "Premonition". The Labarn remix is a hybrid glitch / electro house version with a very unique sound to it. There is a vocal and dub version from Motobu in a progressive house style. There is also a fidget style remix from Wobble Factory.

Click Here to buy the Premonition EP from Beatport.

Here is a free song from the album 'Last Man Standing', "Friday" is an electro house track with some nice guitar work.

New EP from Sasha & James Teej with a remix from M.A.N.D.Y.

Out now on Sasha's own Last Night On Earth label, is this epic EP 'Bring On The Night' consisting of two original tracks and a remix from M.A.N.D.Y.!

I have always loved Sasha's more epic works the most, such as the Xpander EP and his full length remix of "Direct Me" by Reese Project.

"Night Track" definitely qualifies as epic, clocking in at 10:54. A very cool vibe, best described as progressive nu disco. Some really cool synth work and floating male vocals.

"As You Fall" has another great snyth line and really features the vocals of Teej.

"Night Track (M.A.N.D.Y. remix)" is going to get a lot of play in my club sets. Perfect late night vibe.

Hot new collaboration between Foamo + RackNRuin

Gorgon City is the exciting new collaboration between Foamo and RackNRuin. These are two producers on top of their game, and the first Gorgon City EP cements that. Three tracks on the EP :
"The Truth" - a beautiful bass jam with Janai providing some amazing vocals.
"Odyssey" - my favorite of the three, when the bassline kicks in after the amazing breakdown, all hell should bust loose on any dancefloor.
"The Crypt" - an uptempo bass banger with a reggae / dancehall vibe. Fire!

New music video from Björk

from the press release:

Björk has collaborated with biomedical animator Drew Berry to create a partly-scientific representation of the haunting song, Hollow from the Biophilia project.

Of the video Björk says, "It's just the feeling when you start thinking about your ancestors and DNA that the grounds open below you and you can feel your mother and her mother, and her mother, and her mother, and her mother 30,000 years back. So suddenly you're this kinda tunnel, or trunk of DNA ... All these ghosts come up so it ended up begin a Halloween song and quite gothic in a way ... It's like being part of this everlasting necklace when you're just a bead on a chain and you sort of want to belong and be a part of it and it's just like a miracle."

On blending his scientific work with Björk’s music director Drew Barry comments;

"The "Hollow" music video is a powers-of-10 exploration of the microscopic and and molecular landscapes inside Björk's body. The animation was constructed from molecular models of DNA and proteins derived from various forms of scientific data such as x-ray crystallography.

My work is usually defined by goals of didactic science education and accuracy, so this is the first time that I've strayed fully into the world of art, with the opportunity to mess around with the scientific data to create a whimsical and playful journey.

Inside a cell nucleus the audience encounters Björk's ancestral spirit — her ghost in the machine — that watches over her genes as they flow from one generation to the next. The spirit manifests as a large molecular complex which was modeled from a three-dimensional head scan of Björk.

The inspiration for the face came from the 'fruit face' paintings by the 16th century italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo who took objects such as fruits, vegetables, or books, and arranged them in such a way that they formed a portrait."

Free track from Mr No Hands

With a name inspired by his love for BMX tricks, East London’s Dave Clough aka Mr No Hands, has rapidly crafted a canny reputation. The musician, DJ and animation artist has released his debut completion album, No Handed Music, with each track accompanied by one of his unique animated videos, leading to appearances at festivals such as Global Gathering and Glade.

Through his YouTube channel, Mr No Hands has picked up an army of fans who regularly look forward to his animated musical capers, which have grown from being crafted in a modernist lo-fi Lowry style (without the bad weather and the drab colours), to freestyling stickmen and quirky 3D animations. Alongside his own regular page in Mixmag, Mr No Hands was appointed as one of the judges on their competition to find the best clubbing filmmakers which saw the magazine join forces with the British Film Institute’s cutting edge ‘Bug’ music video event.

Having been awarded 'Tune of the Month' in both DJ Mag and Mixmag, his music has picked up huge support from DJs Ali B, Bassbin Twins, The Stanton Warriors, Meat Katie and The Plump DJs who heavily supported the edit Mr No Hands did of their own ‘System Addict’ track.

Mr No Hands also runs the Life Support Machine music site featuring tons of fresh broken beat and bass heavy sounds.

The new track from Mr No Hands which you can stream and download below, is a remix of his acid breaks track he made with The Bassbin Twins called "Adrenaline Ltd". The new version is slowed down, extended and sexified.

Introducing M.E.L.T [dubstep / bass]

M.E.L.T is a dubstep and bass music producer and DJ from Canada. He has been DJ-ing since 2006 and began producing remixes and original productions in 2011. Recently signed to Truespin Records, his first release is dropping in April 2012 with vocals by Seratonin.

M.E.L.T has been described as a ruthless party rocker that just won’t quit until the crowd is dripping with sweat and collapsing from exhaustion. Catch him in a city near you where he’s guaranteed to make you jump, mosh, dance and all out lose control to twisted modulated waveforms, and broken beats of all tempos.

Here is a streaming preview from the upcoming release:

M.E.L.T Ft. Saratonin - Without You

An interview with M.E.L.T

1) Where did the name M.E.L.T come from?

M.E.L.T stands for Modulated Editing of Lossless Transients which loosely translates into giving movement to sounds and/or music, which is what in my opinion keeps dance music interesting.

2) What song(s) really grabbed your ear and inspired you to DJ and produce?

I actually started as an acid techno DJ about 7 years ago and it was the sounds of D.A.V.E the drummer, The Liberator boys, Ant, Geezer, and that lot which first inspired me. I'd say the first song that really inspired me to produce though was The Grid by Calvertron, don't think I'll ever get sick of that one. If there's one cat out there that has making music down to a tee, it's Alex Calver.

3) If you could co-produce a song with anyone at all, who would you work with and why?

Skrillex or Dillon Francis, both of them are absolutely on fire right now. It's cats like that who really inspire me to keep taking my production to the next level. Hell, I have to if I ever wanna share the spotlight with the likes of them.

4) What hardware and software do you currently use in the studio?

Software: Currently running Ableton Live as a DAW. As far as VST's I use Native Instruments Massive for all my leads, main basses, etc. I'm really big on sound design so I synthesize the greater portion of my sounds myself using Native Instruments Massive. I'm a huge advocate of wavetable synthesis as it lends itself extremely well to enabling me to give lots of movement to my sounds. People often ask me how I made a number of sounds in my songs and when I tell them its all the same patch they're usually quite surprised. Other VST's I favor are Effectrix, Omnisphere, and just started using FM8 but still in the learning stages. Other than that I use a lot of the stock plug ins that Ableton offers.

5) If you could perform at your dream gig, describe for us what it would be like.

I've always wanted to play a really big outdoor festival, but honestly, as long as I have a packed dance floor of people who are really feeling my music and dancing their asses off, I'm happy. I started DJing and producing to share my passion for music with people and spread the joy that music brings me every day and as long as I'm making people happy with my music, all is well in my world.
