April was born into a preacher's household that raised her on early jazz music as well as the gospel sounds from the church. When April was introduced to house music by her brother as a child, she found a fusion of all the things she loved and was eager to study the history of this unique genre.
Coming from New York, April produced, performed with and sang for the group Machine Life, who released "Nothing Makes it Right" in early 2014. In late 2014, she decided to release solo material that paid tribute to her love for deep Chicago house. "Lazy River" is an album that combines these early sounds with April's own musical vision. The title track was released in early February of 2015 and pays equal homage to real house music and her love of the early jazz days.
